Openings for farmers market staff, farm help, and retail sales staff 

Are you interested in farmers markets and the local food movement? Do you love to cook and try new things? We are a small local company looking for someone to enthusiastically promote our hand-blended organic herb, spice, and tea blends at farmers markets and in our retail store.

We are currently looking for someone to independently manage one or more Saturday winter markets in the Boston/Cambridge/ Somerville/northwest suburbs area, with the possibility to continue into the summer farmers market season in 2014. Managing a market would include picking up products and market materials at our storage space in Stoneham, setting up and breaking down at the market, staffing our table during market hours, and returning everything to the storage space after the market. You will need to have a reliable vehicle (station wagon or larger preferred, but we have managed with a Prius!) and be comfortable driving and working in any kind of weather. The markets take place in all but the most severe weather conditions, so if the market is open, you will be expected to be there. 

You will be the face of our company, so please be energetic, attentive, enthusiastic, and responsible. The job requires careful attention to
detail at all times. You are the kind of person who likes to experiment with food and flavors and to explore the culinary traditions of other
cultures. We will provide free samples of all of our teas and herb/spice blends for you to try so that you can better talk about them with
customers. We encourage creativity and believe that loose tea, herbs, and spices are fun, easy, and affordable everyday luxuries.

Previous farmers market experience is a definite plus, even if it's just as a regular customer!  

Additional requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds safely.
Must have a reliable vehicle.
Must be comfortable interacting with many different kinds of customer and answering questions.
Must be flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances.  No two days are exactly the same!

We expect to be attending primarily Saturday markets during the winter and markets every day of the week in the summer, and there is also the possibility for work in our retail store in Winchester and spring and summer work at our organic herb and flower farm. We are also looking for on-call staff who may be able to fill in as needed on short notice.

We pay $12/hr for you to independently manage a market and reimburse for mileage in your vehicle between our storage space and the market. For the first few weeks, you will work as an assistant ($9/hr) with one of the owners for training purposes before transitioning to full ownership of the market. Work on the farm and in the retail store is paid at $8 to $12 per hour depending on experience and ability to work independently.
